Thai Garuda Buddhist Amulets

 When Robert asked me to marry him I said yes. Afterwards I told him I wanted to do something special for our friends and family in America for our wedding. I wanted something that was culturally, religiously, and personally significant to me that we could share. My mom's brother, my uncle is a famous monk in Thailand and he creates Thai Buddhist Amulets using a rare and collectable Thai coin from 1973 which is very difficult to find and treasured in Thailand.

This is personally significant to me because it is made by my uncle. 

Culturally is is a special one time 1 baht coin that was released in 1973 in Thailand displaying King Rama 9 on one side with Garuda, which is on the official seal of Thailand, on the other side. The coins were pulled from circulation and discontinued from circulation the following year when the currency was redesigned. They are highly sought in Thailand and believed to contain powers of blessing and protection.

These are Thai Buddhist Amulets and are religiously significant in Thai Buddhism. In Thai Buddhism Garuda is like a guardian angel or protector of Buddha. People believe the coins or amulets made from the coins protect them from evil, bless them with safety, protection from evil as well as bad fortune, and most people have anecdotal stories of someone who survived what should have been a fatal automotive accident with no injury while wearing one of these amults.

For years we bought these coins from collectors in Bangkok and donated then to Uncle Monk Nu while asking for some back as amulets. We brought the Amulets that my uncle created and gave to us when I came to the US. Robert and I were wed on February 11th, 2025.

 This is the prayer (in Thai) to recite daily to "charge" your amulet. Uncle Monk said the amulet was like a rechargable battery and was only at 50% power and a daily prayer charges it to 100%.
